Limuhuniaula Video Launch
Limuhinaula — Short Film
A film honoring the generational relationship between wāhine and limu, exploring its nutritional, medicinal, spiritual, and cultural significance in Hawaiian life. Inspired by and dedicated to the late Dr. Isabella Abbott, the film highlights both historical and contemporary practices while addressing environmental changes and the succession of traditional knowledge holders.
Featuring wāhine limu practitioners: Malia Heimuli, Miwa Tamanaha, Lei Wann, and Nalani Kaneakua.
Mahalo to the Hawaiʻi Council for the Humanities for supporting this project, and to filmmaker Matt Yamashita for capturing the stories of our Limu Hui.
